About Tim Terkelsen

Tim Eldon Terkelsen (Born October 8, 1957) in Buckeye Arizona to Eldon and Nancy Terkelsen. My Family farmed in Buckeye from the early 1900’s until my parents sold the farm in 1978. All of my early memories and quite a few of my songs took place in Buckeye. I am a lot of things before I am a singer or songwriter. To put my vocations and avocations in order it would go something like this:

First, I am a husband of 35 years, (married to my beautiful Barbara), father of 4, & grandfather of 3. I am a Certified Public Accountant by trade, a cowboy at heart. Somewhere along in here is where the music fits in.

My earliest musical influences include Meryl Haggard, Charlie Pride & Hank Williams. These were the first 8 tract tapes I bought when I got my first stereo in 8th grade. Later (in no particular order) Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine & Robert Earl Keen Jr all were influential in my musical development. To this group, I would add Jim Paul. Unless you are somehow involved in the reining horse business, you likely have never heard of Jim Paul. Jim makes one of a kind spurs and bits, is a world champion working cow horse trainer, a member of reigned cow horse hall of fame, and a pretty fair guitar picker. He is one of the most talented guys I know. Jim taught me my first chords on the guitar and is the father of two of my oldest and best friends, Jimmy and Randy Paul. My earliest recordings were done at Randy’s studio with him playing lead guitar, bass, dobro, and his brother John on the drums. Another significant factor in my songwriting history would be Gary Allen Odom (GAO). Gary was my best friend from 2nd grade until he was killed in a car wreck in 1981 at age 24. Gary and I began to write songs together and separately around 1978. Almost every one of my songs is based in the truth about people I have known or places I have been.

I am an avid team roper and currently live in Yuma Arizona. I hope you enjoy the music.
